Team Building in Dana Point, CA
Corporate Team Building in Dana Point, CA
Dana Point Harbor is home base for Expert Active. A Dana Point team day happens on water, bluffs and trails we work every week. The harbor is protected enough for first-time paddlers, the headland trails sit above it, and the open Pacific is a short ride out for whale watching or a yacht afternoon. Few towns pack this much into a couple of square miles.

Dana Point team building activities
1. Facilitated team building. Every program starts with what your team needs: trust, communication, celebrating a win or blowing off steam. We then pick formats and pacing to match. For mixed groups, we often rotate teams through two or three short challenges so everyone finds a strength. Team building in Dana Point · Hunt, Gather, Cook cook-off.
2. Competitive scavenger hunt. Teams race around the harbor and bluff-top parks solving clues and completing photo and video challenges on an app with a live leaderboard, while a game host keeps the scores honest and the trash talk friendly. It works for small teams to large groups, so ask us.
3. Surf lessons. Instructors certified in CPR and First Aid start every lesson on the sand, then coach small groups at a 1:3 ratio on beginner-friendly local breaks, including Monarch Beach. Boards, wetsuits and towels are included. Surf lessons · Monarch surf.
4. Guided hiking. Bluff and headland trails give big ocean views without a big climb, and the late-afternoon light is especially good. Hike.
5. Kayaking. Guides lead groups through Dana Point Harbor and out along the headland with an orientation on the sand first. Tours run about 1.5-2 hours and can be customized to include organic juice tasting, a small foot hike or event an afternoon beachside brunch. Kayak.
6. Stand-up paddleboard (SUP). The calm harbor is one of the easiest places in Orange County to stand up on your first try. Sessions run one to two hours with a 1:4 ratio. SUP · Monarch SUP.
7. eBike tours. Chaparral Cruising (about 1–1.5 hours) is the shortest ride. Cove to Cove (about 2 hours) links the coves and harbor lookouts. Historic Hillsides (about 3–4 hours) ends at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. All eBike tours.
8. Dana Point foodie tour. Start with a bluff-top view and coffee at Bear Coast Coffee, move on to flatbreads or tacos, and finish with tapas and ice cream by the harbor. The tour runs about three hours. Dana Point Food Tour.
9. Beer tour. A guided South County brewery crawl with three to five stops, lunch, and a beer-trivia game on the drive. South OC Beer Tour.
10. Yacht outing. Charter a private yacht out of the harbor for a sunset cruise, a client-hosting afternoon or a mixology party on deck. We arrange the boat and logistics.
11. Whale watching. Dana Point calls itself the Dolphin & Whale Watching Capital of the World. A private whale and dolphin cruise is an easy win for a mixed group, and we'll match timing to the season.
Found the right mix? Most Dana Point groups pair one water activity with one land activity. Tell us your date and headcount, and we'll suggest the combination.
Wellness & fitness add-ons
Add a wellness block before or after your main activity. Options include sunrise yoga on the sand, a HIIT circuit, a sound bath, cold plunge, pilates and guided breathwork. Breathwork followed by a cold plunge pairs well with a morning paddle. We bring the instructors and equipment and handle setup, so ask us which sessions fit your schedule.
Staying at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach?
We run the on-site adventure program for the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club. eBike tours start at the hotel's main entrance (max 5 riders per Monarch departure).
Group sizes and what's included
Kayak groups run up to 40, SUP up to 20, surf up to 24, eBike groups sized by route and the foodie tour 6–30. Larger groups rotate through activities in waves. Every program includes planning support, a pre-event information sheet, certified guides, equipment, water and snacks (by activity), and a 72-hour weather check. Pricing is quote-based and depends on the activity, headcount, date and add-ons.
